Slip-Test is proud to partner with Knightcott Surface Solutions to offer the KSS Pendulum in the United States. The KSS is a "Wessex" style British Pendulum tribometer with the double-helix-threaded slider arc adjuster for superfine control. Wessex style pendulums have repeatedly demonstrated repeatable and reproducible test results and ASTM F2508 validity. KSS is a Pendulum brand in use around the world.

Includes tribometer with calibration certificate, roller case, slider trajectory setting gauge, Pavigres tile, float glass tile, carpet adapters, tool roll, four mounted sliders (Slider 96 or Slider 55), 3M 3-micron pink lapping film, P400 grit sandpaper. Images show optional sample holder.

Industry Leading Features

  • Practical

Slips can occur on many types of underfoot surfaces with various configurations. The time-proven Pendulum design with its spring-loaded slider is particularly suited to testing:

    • 3D-profiled features on truncated-dome detectable warning surfaces and plastic bathing surfaces
    • Textured flooring including ceramic, vinyl, and wood
    • Stair nosing products
    • Exterior materials such as concrete and asphalt
    • Surfaces intended for use barefoot (with Slider 55)
  • Robust Construction

CAD-engineered and CNC-machined structure means the Pendulum can withstand the abuse that portable testing equipment has to endure.

  • Portable

    • Dimensions of carry case 30 x 30 x 14 inches
    • Shipping weight 72 pounds
    • Case has roller wheels for easier transit
  • Dependable

Friction testing exposes a pendulum to all kinds of liquid and solid contaminants. The KSS Pendulum uses corrosion-resistant anodized aluminum, stainless steel, plated, and plastic parts for reliable operation. Requires minimal routine maintenance.

Technical Foundations

Many tribometers in the market are not backed by scientifically valid principles. The KSS Pendulum is….

Valid

As an open-source design in use for over 60 years, the Pendulum has been the subject of numerous interlaboratory studies and proficiency testing sessions around the world. There is more research data on the Pendulum's performance than any other tribometer.

Additional Features

  • A Place for Everything

The KSS Pendulum roller case has space for sliders, conditioning supplies, glass & Pavigres verification tiles, and a heavy-duty tile holder.

  • Parts and Accessories

Slip-Test has most consumables and common spare parts in stock, ready to ship from Philadelphia.
